Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Stepdown

Location: New York, NY

Shift: Day or Night | 3x12s | 7AM-7:30PM | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Every Other Weekend (EOW) is Required

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Stepdown Unit, where you will provide safe, evidence-based, and compassionate care to patients transitioning from critical care. As a Clinical Nurse, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team delivering high-quality patient care rooted in the principles of Relationship Centered Care. Your role will encompass direct patient care, patient education, quality improvement, and collaboration with colleagues and families to support recovery and discharge planning.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care:

Deliver care based on nursing theory, research, and evidence-based practice.

Apply critical thinking in patient assessments, planning, interventions, and evaluations.

Patient Experience:

Foster therapeutic relationships with patients and families.

Listen actively and show empathy, compassion, and respect.

Conduct Purposeful Hourly Rounding (PHR) and provide exceptional service recovery when needed.

Quality & Safety:

Practice within all hospital safety and infection control protocols.

Document accurately and thoroughly using institutional systems (EPIC preferred).

Operations:

Act as charge nurse as needed.

Promote cost-effective care and patient throughput.

Professional Development:

Contribute to a positive work environment that supports professional growth.

Demonstrate professional ethics, leadership, and a spirit of inquiry.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• Associate degree in nursing considered with relevant experience and/or active enrollment in a BSN program
• Registered Nurse (RN) – New York State, in good standing (required upon hire)
• BLS (American Heart Association – required)
• ACLS (American Heart Association – required)
• 2 years in cardiology, telemetry, or VAD care preferred
• 1 year of travel RN experience (for travel positions only)
• EPIC EMR experience highly preferred
• Minimum 2 years RN experience required
