Medique Pharmaceuticals is an avid sponsor of occupatonal health and this award highlights their commitment to the recognition of occupational health leaders.  Each year since 1991, the Medique  Leadership Award has recognized occupational health nurses, who, as determined by their peers, have exhibited the highest qualities of leadership and participation in their State Association of Occupational Health Nurses and in other professional activities.

The New York State Association of Occupational Health Nurses (NYSAOHN) is proud to honor Mary Ann Rall RN, COHN-S/CM with the 2018 New York State Medique Leadership Award.

Mary Ann has been active with her state and local chapters and has held multiple offices since joining the Greater Rochester New York Association of Occupational Health Nurses (GRNYAOHN) local chapter in 1992.  She has served as the Rochester chapter President for the past five years and has also served on the NYSAOHN Board of Directors for the past five years.

Mary Ann has been a Registered Nurse for 36 years and has greater than 30 years of experience in the field of Occupational Health.  She has worked for both large (Fortune 500) and small employers, such as Xerox Corp., Rochester Gas and Electric, The Gleason Works, and Goulds Pumps as an Occupational Health Nurse, Ergonomist Rehabilitation Coordinator, Internal Case Manager, and Field Case Manager (including catastrophic claims).

Mary Ann is thankful for the patience of Mary Wilson, RN who took her under her wing and taught her all the ins and outs of Occupational Health Nursing at Goulds Pumps and for Dr. Joseph Monkofsky who was forever providing educational opportunities and encouraged her to obtain her COHN-S in 1994.

Mary Ann is currently employed at the University of Rochester as a Return to Work Coordinator/ Claims Manager, assisting employees with Return to Work issues from Workers’ Compensation, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability and other University Leaves of Absence.  She has a wide range of experience in employee safety including incident investigation, leading Safety Committees, participating on internal Medical Emergency Response Teams, hazard and ergonomic assessments of office and industrial environments, as well as OSHA Recordkeeping.  She is knowledgeable in health promotion / employee wellness programming.  Mary Ann has an extensive background in complex claims involving Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Americans with Disabilities Act Amendment Act (ADAAA), as well as Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

When her twin sons were in school, she was actively involved as a Parent Helper, Cub Scout Den Leader, Cub Scout Pack Committee Chairperson, assistant with Babe Ruth Baseball, and Band Boosters.  In her free time, Mary Ann enjoys gardening, quilting and cross stitching, but most of all spending time with her family, friends and new chocolate lab puppy, Greta.

Congratulations, Mary Ann!
