Susan Wynne, RN, BSN, COHN-S/CM received the 2020 New York State Medique Leadership Award at the NEAOHN/PAAOHN conference this week. The NYSAOHN Board of Directors was very pleased to be able to honor Susan with this award for all her work with the Greater New York AOHN local chapter covering New York City, Long Island and the Lower Hudson Valley. She received a plaque and check for $400 from Medique. Congratulations, Susan!
Susan is celebrating her 50th reunion as a graduate of Columbia University School of Nursing this May. She has worked in Occupational Health for 30 years and is certified as an Occupational Health Nurse Specialist and Case Manager for the last 20 years by the American Board of Occupational Health Nurses.
While working in the hospital at her first job as a graduate nurse, she began working part-time at the Metropolitan Museum of Art as an Occupational Health Nurse. Realizing her interest in this field, she later accepted a position at Time Inc. where she worked for 22 years as Manager of Health Services. Among other things, there she assessed and treated acute and chronic illness and injury, case-managed maternity and medical disability, managed Workers’ Comp, facilitated wellness programs and performed travel health consultations as well as administering the necessary immunizations. Currently, she works for Meredith Corporation, the company that bought Time Inc.
Susan is a member of the Greater New York Chapter of Occupational Health Nurses for 25 years, as well as New York State AOHN, and AAOHN. She was GNYAOHN chairman of Nominations and Government Affairs for 4 years and Treasurer since 2008. Last year when the current President resigned, Susan stepped in as Acting President until a new one could be found so that the chapter would not have to close like others have had to when volunteers do not come forward.
A resident of Riverside, Connecticut, has a son and daughter. She enjoys gardening, travel, and most of all spending time with her granddaughter and 3 grandsons.
