When comparing the lack of research investigating shoulder injuries in commercial truck drivers to the amount of research investigating back injuries in commercial truck drivers and that of shoulder injuries in other professions, it is evident that there is a need for in-depth and specific research targeting this population. This presentation will report and discuss the findings of a research study that investigated shoulder injuries in a group of commercial truck drivers.

Got Tape? Pain Management Using Elastic Therapeutic Taping

This session will review the system of skin, including the physiology and neurology of the epidermis and dermis. The mechanism of pain will be discussed as well as a review of current literature on the modality of elastic therapeutic taping and its effects on pain, including opioid use. Elizabeth will also provide a practical demonstration of common applications of tape for the management of pain.
