Safe Staffing Bill Passes NYS Assembly and Senate

Posted almost 3 years ago

A bill to address appropriate hospital and long term care facility staffing has passed both the New York State Senate and Assembly.  Assembly bill, A108-B, sponsored by Assembly member Gunther and Senate bill, S1168-A sponsored by Senator Rivera would require each hospital or long term care facility to establish an ongoing committee to create, and have the authority to implement, nurse staffing plans that are specific to each unit of the hospital or long term care facility. This legislation would also require the public reporting of these staffing plans and tracking of the outcomes of care.

For additional specifics of the requirements contained in the bills, see:

The bills have been sent to the Governor for signing.
