The Occupational Health Nurse Specialist is an integral member of the Baker Hughes HQ Global Health and Medical team.  This role serves as a U.S. occupational medical escalation manager delivering nursing services and support related to employee fitness for duty, illness and injury, injury investigation, mandatory EAP referrals, and return-to-work accommodations.

As a remote Occupational Health Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing guidance and consultation to HSE and HR on aspects of occupational health related to ADA, Mandatory Medical Assessments, Medication Clearance, Accommodations, Workers Compensation compliance, and Travel Accommodation program
  • Facilitating mandatory fit-for-duty exam process, from scheduling to follow-up appointments and outcome
  • Monitoring and providing business guidance to the US injury case management third-party administrator
  • Providing guidance and acts as a point person for various medical accommodations processes and transitional work arrangements in alignment with all state and federal laws / regulations
  • Supporting the Baker Hughes Drug & Alcohol team in review and completion of mandatory medication clearances, providing additional guidance as required
  • Partnering with HSE on accident investigation to determine recordability, causality, and work-relatedness of incident and reporting of potential OSHA recordable cases as required
  • Liaising with Baker Hughes medical advisor for escalations and in-depth medical reviews
  • Working in direct partnership with our Leave & Disability, Worker’s Compensation, Drug & Alcohol, and Human Resources teams
  • Maintaining relevant occupational injury / illness records in a confidential, HIPAA compliant manner
  • Supporting COVID-19 related case review and accommodations management
  • Contributing to projects as a team member or leading small projects.
  • Escalating concerns when appropriate to management and product company leaders
